Note: at the moment the Implementing Decree has not yet been issued, therefore, to date, it is not yet possible to activate and access this small bonus.
The Transportation Bonus is a subsidy made available by the Government (Fuel Decree, Official Gazette no. 5 of 14 January 2023) for students, workers and everyone those who travel frequently by public transport; it is, to all intents and purposes, a measure reserved for a precise public that will be able to obtain a 60 euro voucher expendable to cover, entirely or otherwise, the purchase of a subscription to a local public transport company (TPL). Officially active already since last year, the bonus was recently extended until 31 December 2023 with a small change regarding the methods of request.
Who can ask
Let’s start from the beginning; who can access this specific bonus? All citizensregardless of whether they are employees or freelancers, with a certain income threshold obtained in the 2022 tax year.
In details:
- subjects: natural persons, dependent minors, freelancers with VAT number;
- total income: not exceeding 20 thousand euros, achieved in 2022 (self-certification).
- All taxable income, not just employment and pension income, therefore including rental income and flat rate tax.
Each family member, providing the declaration model and if not dependent on a parent, can repeat the operation to obtain their own personal voucher. It will be determined by the amount of the annual or monthly subscription you intend to purchase. The voucher is valid for the purchase of season tickets for local, regional and interregional public transport services or for national railway transport services. The bonus is not transferable and does not affect the calculation of the ISEE.
What changes compared to the previous model? The total income; while previously it was fixed for no more than 35 thousand euros, now the ceiling is reduced to 20 thousand euros, thus offering a small amount of support to a much wider audience.
How to get it
To get the 2023 transport bonus you need to access the dedicated portal using the SPID or the CiE systemthen using the electronic Identity Card and providing:
- name and surname;
- Tax ID code;
- total income of the beneficiary;
- amount of voucher requested.
We specify that before requesting the fund, with a maximum value of 60 euros, it is necessary to inquire at the points of sale or on the official websites of the local public transport companies. In fact, we remind you that the expense can be used to fully cover, or not, a monthly or annual subscription. The voucher is issued through the portal and is marked with a unique identification code, therefore non-transferable.
For which subscriptions is it valid?
As anticipated, the voucher can be used to support the monthly or annual subscription of aLPT company. First class, executive, business, club executive, lounge, premium, working area and business lounge services are excluded.
Expiration
The bonus can be requested until the end of the year, 31 December 2023, or end when the available resources run out. The voucher must be spent within the month of issue; after this deadline, the unused voucher will be automatically cancelled.
