There’s now even more on offer for the senses at sea – a gallery, tours of floating museums and passengers as part of the art.

There is a new gallery area on Tui Cruises’ “Mein Schiff 1”. There passengers can buy fine art prints, serigraphs and other modern and contemporary art.

The ship was in dry dock in Hamburg for a few days and, as the third member of the Tui Cruises fleet, received a shore power connection there, which, according to the shipping company, enables “almost emission-free” ship operation at ports equipped for this purpose.

Guided tour of the floating museums on Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises describes its latest ships of the so-called Edge class as floating museums. More than 4000 works of art can be seen on each of the three ships. Anyone on board one of the ships “Celebrity Beyond”, “Celebrity Apex” or “Celebrity Edge” can now delve deeper and book an “Art, Architecture & Design” tour, according to the shipping company.

A guide then explains in more detail what the most important objects on each ship are all about – such as the sculpture of a stooped man balancing an elephant, which can be seen by the pool on deck 14 of the “Celebrity Beyond”. Or with the big white butterfly at a pool on the “Celebrity Edge”.

The guided tour, which is offered several times a week, lasts 75 minutes. Cost: the equivalent of around 50 euros.

Passengers as part of a work of art on the “MS Europa 2”

Sound artist Christopher von Deylen aka Schiller is on board an Adriatic cruise on the “MS Europa 2” in mid-June. The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises shipping company promises a “complete work of art made up of atmospheric sounds and intoxicating visual worlds” for the 11-day “Illuminate2” trip from Piraeus to Venice. At an event called “Voyage – Colors of the World” the guests are directly involved. They are then required to dress in white and thus become part of the projection screen.
