This Wednesday, January 18, the hearings for testimonial statements in the trial for the murder of Fernando Baez Sosawhich takes place in Court No. 1 of Dolores.
During 12 long days, experts, investigators, relatives and witnesses of each of the parties offered statements about what happened, as did the majority of the defendants. Videos, chats and audios were exhibited to reconstruct what happened in Villa Gesell before, during and after the attacks that ended the life of Baez Sosa.
Both for prosecutors Juan Dávila and Gustavo García and for the complaint headed by Fernando Burlando, the testing exposed are numerous and highly incriminating. They consider that none of the testimonies offered by the defense were sufficient to mitigate the accusation of “double aggravated homicide by predetermination and treachery”, punishable by life imprisonment.
The next stage will be that of the allegations, which will begin on January 25 with the complaint and the prosecution. The following day it will be the turn of the defense, in charge of Hugo Tomei and Emilia Pertossi, while the reading of the verdict is scheduled for January 31.
On the last day of the testimonies, two of the defendants testified: Lucas Pertossi and Blas Cinalli, who admitted having participated in a fight, but denied having premeditated the crime, like most of the rugbiers involved. For this reason, it is believed that the objective of the defense is to introduce the figure of “homicide in a fight”, with a much lower penalty.
Tribute to Ferdinand
As planned, yesterday there was a tribute to Ferdinandthree years after the crime. Hundreds of people went to the Libres del Sur amphitheater in Dolores to accompany the victim’s parents, Graciela Sosa and Silvino Báez.
“We came here to Dolores in search of justice. We don’t want revenge, we just want them to pay for what they did to my son. At the trial I saw how he was repeatedly beaten. I saw how they discriminated against him because of his skin color. I keep waiting for my son to come back, even though I know he will never, ever come back into our lives. I thank you infinitely for coming to join us”, said Graciela.
Silvino also had words for the death of his son. “Every day the absence of Ferdinand. Every time I get up in the morning it’s like waking up with a bag on my back.It is a huge weight that I have on me and my partner Graciela ”.
