Twitter alternative Bluesky is getting more of a spotlight as celebrities join. Model Chrissy Teigen announced on Twitter today that she now has a Bluesky account too.
Also on the service are Hollywood director James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Democratic US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and more and more well-known journalists.
Bluesky has had around 40,000 users on the platform so far, company boss Jay Graber said today to the financial service Bloomberg. So far, the service can only be used with invitations so that the infrastructure is not overloaded in one fell swoop.
Dissatisfied Twitter users
Many well-known Twitter users who are dissatisfied with the development of the short message service under the new owner Elon Musk have been looking for invitation codes for Bluesky in the past few days.
Tech billionaire Musk had caused chaos around the verification check mark on Twitter, among other things, and allowed many blocked users with right-wing political views to return to the platform.
