Two Austrians who disappeared during the recent floods in Greece have been confirmed dead, after DNA tests carried out on two recovered bodies confirmed their identities, the Austrian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Saturday, without giving their names, reports Reuters , according to News.ro.

“It is our sad duty to announce the death of two Austrian citizens in Greece,” the ministry said in a short statement.

“The results of the DNA analyzes confirmed that it is about the two people missing from the severe floods,” added the cited source.

Storm Daniel ravaged Greece for three days at the end of the hottest summer on record, wreaking further havoc after deadly wildfires weeks ago.

Fifteen people lost their lives as a result of the floods.
