Far Cry 7 and a new Far Cry dedicated to multiplayer in the pipes of Ubisoft?

The first would be Far Cry 7, in the same vein as the previous opuses, but the latter would not come alone since Ubisoft would also be working on a new Far Cry focused on multiplayer. These two concepts would be two separate games, but they should have been combined into one and the same game initially. Currently, Far Cry 7’s codename would be Project Blackbird and the multiplayer Far Cry experience would be called Project Maverick. Ubisoft Montreal would be the studio most involved in these projects.
According to the sources interviewed, Project Maverick would have evolved a lot over the past year, but the title would be set in Alaska and would be a shooter with an extraction component, a permanent death system, backpack system or more contracts. In short, the similarities with Escape From Tarkov and Modern Warfare II’s DMZ mode seem undeniable. However, our colleagues from Insider Gaming point out that this type of concept and the exploitation of survival in Alaska have been ideas that have been in high demand since 2015 by the Far Cry community.
As for Project Blackbird aka Far Cry 7, the details are less despite the fact that the game could be set in the same location as Project Maverick given that the two titles are from the same game.
Both games wouldn’t see the light of day for at least another two years, with release slated for fall 2025, though all of that is still unclear and subject to change. Ubisoft has not commented on these revelations, but we will have to watch for other clues over the next few months to find out what will happen to Far Cry, which is undoubtedly one of Ubisoft’s most important licenses.
