The clock is ticking: the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin, Oleksii Makeiev, is demanding tanks, artillery and anti-aircraft systems in the shortest possible time.

There were also 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles and 34 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks – each with ammunition. The total value of the individual licenses for the export of armaments issued by the Federal Government from January 1, 2022 to April 24, 2023 is almost 2.8 billion euros.

Given the reinforced Russian attacks factories and residential buildings, the government in Kiev is primarily interested in anti-aircraft weapons. In April, Ukraine received the first of four promised Iris-T SLM air defense systems from Germany.

The aim of the Ukrainian counter-offensive is “the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian lands and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea,” stressed Ambassador Makeiev. Russia must lose the war: “Russia’s defeat is a guarantee of normal life in Europe.”
