About 40 surveillance towers have been installed by Russian occupation forces in Mariupol to spy on residents, according to a Ukrainian official, quoted by Sky News.

Citizens’ phone calls and Internet traffic are monitored by these devices, said Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the city’s exiled mayor.
“Total control in action. Old man Orwell would be simply amazed at how all his fictions became reality in Mariupol,” he said.
Earlier this year, the councilor claimed occupiers were selling SIM cards that allowed authorities to listen in on calls.
