Manchester United upgrade after Cristiano Ronaldo (37 / Al Nassr) left in attack. The Red Devils iron out center forward Wout Weghorst from Istanbul for almost three million euros. The 30-year-old was actually on loan to Besiktas from English second division side FC Burnley until the end of the season.
He has now signed a loan contract in Manchester until the end of the season. At Burnley, Weghorst still has a contract until 2025. The English got the right foot from Wolfsburg almost a year ago for 17.5 million euros. After being relegated from the Premier League, he moved on to Besiktas in the summer.
Weghorst had 13 goals (nine goals, four assists) in 18 games with the Turks. At the World Cup in Qatar, the 1.97 meter tall Dutchman scored twice. The Elftal ended in the quarter-finals against world champions Argentina.
The United newcomer is feeling “privileged to come to Manchester. I’ve played against this club in the past and it’s a fantastic feeling to wear the famous red jersey now. I’ve seen the progress under Erik ten Hag this season and I can’t wait to do my part to help the team achieve their goals.”
