The United States government promised that it will accommodate all requests for humanitarian words presented, and that benefit Cubans, Haitians and Nicaraguans.

Blas Núñez-Neto, Undersecretary of National Security, responded to various questions and concerns related to delays in the humanitarian parole application process and the visa application.

One of the issues that most concerns applicants is the operation of the chronological order announced for the humanitarian strike. In this regard, Núñez-Neto clarified that half of the applications are processed in chronological order, that is, in the order in which they were submitted.

While the other half is processed on a random basis, giving anyone who applied on any date the chance to be selected for the next day’s process. This allows for greater fairness in the process and ensures that all applications will eventually be considered, he told America TeVe.

The undersecretary also called for patience, since due to the high demand and the number of applications that are being processed each month, some 30,000, some applicants may have to wait for some time.

However, he emphasized that it is preferable to follow the legal process to enter the United States rather than attempt an illegal entry, which could have negative consequences.

Regarding the differences in the approval figures between Haitian, Cuban and Nicaraguan citizens, Núñez-Neto explained that before the change implemented in May, applications were approved in the order in which they were received, which resulted in a higher demand in the first months.

With the introduction of the lottery, the numbers are expected to even out in the future, he promised.

Núñez-Neto also recalled that this process is completely free for the participants and that they should not pay anything more than the cost of the plane ticket to travel to the United States.

Any attempt to charge for participating in the program is considered fraud and must be reported, he said.

However, he avoided referring to possible cases of corruption denounced by citizens regarding the process of requesting the humanitarian parole.

Since January of this year, the United States has approved a program that benefits Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans with temporary residence in that country, provided certain requirements are met.

At the end of May, more than 380,000 requests for humanitarian parole were pending. with economic sponsorship for Cubans, which aroused concern in those waiting in the country for permission to travel.

The measure has stopped the exodus of Cubans that took place in 2022 and that turned the situation into real chaos for the US Administration.
