The tranquility of the capital has recently been disturbed by the actions of a new kind of troublemaker. Pretending to be an honest customer, an elderly man ripped off several traders from Algiers in recent weeks thanks to a very special technique.
Under the influence of hypnosis, the latter find themselves obeying the finger and the eye of counterfeiter, who takes the opportunity to “snatch” the contents of the box.

It’s been a few weeks now that an individual, in his fifties or sixties, rages in the streets of Algiers and the surrounding wilayas. His technique? The hypnosis of manipulation. The suspect enters the premises of traders and performs a kind of ritual where he looks specifically at his victim, who, in the exercise of his function, must maintain eye contact with the customer. The saleswoman then finds himself bewitched and completely at the mercy of the charlatan, who takes the opportunity to “ask” him to give him the recipe of the day.

Asking is a calculated act; in most CCTV footage, the suspect can be seen staring straight at the camera asking for the contents of the crate. He pays close attention to never get caught taking the money par himself.
In some cases, he even confirms verbally that the money is given to him with a good heart, to which the victims, totally hypnotized, answer undoubtedly yes. This sordid technique is a kind of legal “firewall” which protects him, in a way, from accusations of theft.

This professional charlatan wreaked havoc in the capital: seen at WinterTo Hydra as well as in other neighborhoods. The latter probably toured Algiers before leaving to enrich himself in the surrounding wilayas.

Sothe video proof of the passage of the latter in Tizi Ouzou is doing the rounds on social media. Rumor has it that he also raged on the side of Béjaïa. But the greatest damage has indeed been done in Algiers: several traders stripped without the slightest tangible evidence to file a complaint.
