For the first time in its history, the Venezuelan national team has qualified undefeated for the Quarterfinals of the Copa América. In the last two editions, it has scored five goals, while in the group stage of the current competition it has already scored six goals. Now, the Vinotinto will face Canada and have a chance of a place in the semifinals.
Formula 1: George Russell takes advantage of the clash between Verstappen and Norris to conquer Austria
The first victory of a Mercedes driver in 2024 is defined as: “being in the right place at the right time.” George Russell won the Austrian GP, after taking advantage of the collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. The Red Bull star dominated the entire weekend, until on lap 63, where Norris had to abandon and the three-time Formula 1 champion was penalized 10 seconds.
Euro Cup: England survives and Spain wins
Two very different scenarios were experienced in the round of 16 of the Euro Cup. Early on England was saved by Jude Bellingham, who tied the game with a great overhead kick goal that was in Slovakia’s favor for the longest period of the match. Then Harry Kane decided in extra time and sent his team to the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Spain feasted against Georgia, which surprised in the first half, but deflated in the second half. Goals from Rodri, Fabián, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo sentenced the surprising Georgia.
Tennis: Alcaraz ready to open the curtain at Wimbledon
As tradition dictates, the last winner in the men’s category will open the first day of Wimbledon on Monday on the Center Court: Carlos Alcaraz, third player in the world, will face the Estonian Mark Lajal (262nd). The world number 1, the Italian Jannik Sinner, will start at the end of the day on court N.1 against the German Yannick Hanfmann.
Basketball: LeBron James seeks a new contract with the Lakers
LeBron James will not use his option to opt out of his $51.4 million contract for next season and will instead seek a new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, a person with knowledge of the decision said Saturday. The terms of the new agreement could be finalized quickly.
