Caracas. The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, demanded on Monday that the 4 billion profits generated by Citgo, a subsidiary of the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), based in Washington, be delivered to him and demanded his return from the company without conditions

“Venezuela demands that the Citgo company be returned to it without conditions and that the more than 4 billion dollars that we have accumulated there in the banks of the United States be deposited in net profit,” the president highlighted during the broadcast of his television program “With Maduro More”.

On repeated occasions, Maduro accused his country’s right wing of being responsible, along with Washington, for the theft of Citgo.

At the beginning of May, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of State reported that it did not authorize the Maduro Administration to carry out transactions or negotiations with the Citgo company at an international level.

Decision that Caracas described as illegal and immoral the decision of the US government, considering that the only objective of this is to cause the “maximum possible damage to citizens.”
