The former presidential candidate Veronika Mendoza questioned that the National Police of Peru (PNP) has promoted the so-called ‘march for peace’ for this Tuesday in response to the wave of protests that were going to be reactivated in different parts of the country against the government of Dina Boluarte.

“Not only is it unconstitutional and extremely dangerous for the PNP to become politicized; It is also unworthy that those who persecute, repress and kill present themselves as champions of peace. We want peace, yes, but not with bullets and repression, we want peace with justice and equality, ”she wrote on his personal Twitter account.

As is public, the institutional accounts of the Police published a video last Friday in which they called for a march to promote peace. The call had been disseminated with graphics and videos in which the Oscar Arriolahead of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri).

So let us embrace together those of us who want to march peacefully”.

However, the organization of the event would be going against what was indicated by the Political Constitution of Peru. According to the constitutionalist Omar Cairo, “article 34 of the constitutional text establishes that members of the National Police cannot participate in demonstrationsand its article 169 prescribes that the National Police is not deliberative”.
