From April 28th to May 1st, 2023, the Funkenzunft Erlach with chairman Norbert Fenkart and StR. Markus Klien visiting Karlstein in Lower Austria.

The connection to the community came about through Sonja Amann, who originally lived in Erlach and moved to Lower Austria. The Erlacher Funkenzunft set up a traditional spark in the village in 2016 and the Karlsteiner were in Hohenems in 2017 to set up a maypole on the Schlossplatz.

This year, a delegation from the Funkenzunft Erlach traveled east to help erect the maypole. There was a reception at the community fire station with music, a dance group and numerous speeches. Over the course of the day, the Funkenzunft Erlach also visited the Zwettl brewery, the Sonnentor company and the watch museum in Karlstein. On Saturday, the maypole was worked up in the forest together with the local fire brigade and transported to the fairground. All available men and women then helped to set up the swallows (poles). Afterwards we celebrated together until late in the evening.

Next year, on May 18, 2024, it is planned that the representatives from Karlstein will come back to Hohenems to set up a maypole on the Schlossplatz together with the Funkenzunft Erlach.
