Very important note: In order to transfer data smoothly, an update to iOS 17.0.2 is of utmost importance.
Apple has released iOS 17.0.2 specifically for all iPhone 15 / Pro models to fix a problem: direct data transfer from another iPhone during device setup. Otherwise, brim transfer devices may crash and freeze!
The iOS 17.0.2 update will appear automatically during the setup process. If not, please install iOS 17.0.2 via the Settings app under “General” -> “Software Update” after setting up the device again.
What should you do if you tried to transfer data from another iPhone before you updated the iOS and the iPhone 15 / Pro no longer shows the Apple logo? Apple has a help guide for restoring your iPhone published:
- Connect your new iPhone to a computer.
- Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Then press and hold the side button.
- Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, and hold until an image of a computer and a cable appears on the screen.
- Search for your new iPhone in Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows) on your computer.
- Select “Restore” when you see the “Restore” or “Update” option.
- After following these steps and your iPhone 15 is successfully restored, you can safely proceed to transfer data from another iPhone.
