Two of the members of the formation surprised demonstrators by performing during their picket.

Imagine Dragons provided musical support to striking Hollywood screenwriters. On Tuesday, two of the four members of the American formation joined a group of demonstrators in front of the premises of Netflix, in Los Angeles, to play some of their hits.

According to Deadline, singer Dan Reynolds and guitarist Daniel Wayne Sermon took part in this unexpected performance, perched on a bench. They played their hits Radioactive (Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance 2014) and Whatever it Takes.

Interviewed by a TikTokeur, Dan Reynolds explained the reasons for his presence on the picket line:

“(The writers) are the people who stir up the emotions of the world. Creativity is what inspires me, it’s what inspires my children. They deserve to be paid so we come to support the fight.”

“Very profitable content for studios”

The screenwriters of Hollywood series and films went on strike a week ago to warn of the precariousness of their profession. They denounce an ever lower remuneration, in particular due to the transformation of the audiovisual landscape caused by the advent of platforms. Since the cessation of their activities, the developments of several projects have been suspended.

“We produce very profitable content for studios and streaming services”, recalled Stéphanie Deluca, screenwriter of The Deuce on HBO, at a protest last week.

Active since 2008, the Imagine Dragons have established themselves as young figures of American pop-rock. They are currently on a world tour, Mercury World Tourwhich will pass by the Château de Chambord on September 8th.

As reminded by Hollywood Reporter, several celebrities joined the strikers to show their support, including Pete Davidson, Jason Sudeikis and Cynthia Nixon.
