The electoral year started and in the Peronism of La Plata there are already at least six who ask for a clue to compete for the mayor’s office. But there is a leader who has been campaigning and takes advantage of the summer heat to walk the neighborhoods, participate in government management acts and add miles in the face of that contest that is heading towards a great Open, Simultaneous and Compulsory Primary (PASO).
He knows, like his possible opponents in the internal opposition of La Plata, that the task will not be easy, especially if facing the current mayor Julio Garro it is about. The head honcho of the PRO from La Plata has all the chips on competing for his re-election.
It is not even the owner of the Cultural Institute, florence saintout; nor the Minister of Social Development, Victoria Toulouse Peace; the internal rivals of 2019. It is about Paula Lambertiniwho assumed the bench of the Deliberative Council in December 2021 to complete the mandate of the deputy camporista Ariel Archanco, which ends this year. Since then she started uploading his profile. Throughout 2022 he started with his “foot talks”, as she herself calls them; to tour the neighborhoods of La Plata and talk with the neighbors about the problems of the city. He also flooded the urban area with flyers with his name and his photo in search of establishing himself as one of the new faces of La Plata politics.
In the summer and with political and electoral attention focused on the Atlantic coast, Lambertini continues to walk the city and shows it on the networks. This week he toured the Barrio Hipódromo and was present at the delivery ceremony of 36 new patrol cars for the city with the ministers Sergio Berni (Security and Julio Alak (Justice) and the mayor Garro himself. Add miles and presence while the others scored have not yet been shown on the field. The mayor belongs to the Peronist group “Buenos Aires Unida”, which also includes Lorena Riesgo, undersecretary for Sociocultural Promotion of the province, and Santiago Martorelli, former head of the Pablo Bruera administration’s Cabinet. On the list of those who appear with the intention of competing are Tolosa Paz, referenced with “Albertismo” and busy today in ordering the Potenciar Trabajo plans and touring other districts, and Saintout, enrolled in La Cámpora and focused on recitals and the cultural offer presented by the government of Axel Kicillof on the Atlantic coast as a showcase for his re-election. The two were already candidates for mayor and faced each other in the 2019 PASO: won Saintout although he later lost in the general election against Garro.
Alak himself also appears, who was mayor of La Plata for four terms, mentioned as a possible candidate or, at least, as a “computer” of the inmate that is looming complex.
There are two councilors, who share a block with Lambertini, who have already announced that they will be candidates. One is Guillermo “Nano” Carawho ends his second term and is referred to with Axel Kicillof and with the ministers javier rodriguez (Agrarian Development) and Estela Diaz (Women). The other one that has already launched into the race is William Escuderoformer provincial deputy referenced with bruerismo who has a mandate until 2025 in the Council.
The one who also signs up for a great STEP is Gaston Castagneto, current provincial director of the School Food System of the provincewhich is under the orbit of the Minister of Community Development, Andres Larroque, and that manages the funds that are sent to school canteens throughout the province. Gastón is the son of the head of the AFIP, Carlos Castagnetoand the former councilor Ana Herran. He is also the president of the Kolina Buenos Aires party. In his environment they assure that he comes with the support of the space “The Homeland is the other” and that he will be “Cristina Kirchner’s candidate” in the city.
