The company specified that around 09:00 a.m. there was a “subsidence incident in the construction process of the port tunnel, at kilometer 80 of the highway Pan American Highway north”.
Besides, Cosco Shipping deeply regretted the inconvenience caused as a result of the incident and announced that they will assume responsibility for the necessary actions to repair the damage caused.
The company also indicated that they communicated with the National Port Authority and community leaders. It turned out that the investigation to determine the causes would have already begun.
The headquarters of the company in charge of the works was taken over on Tuesday the 16th by a group of Protestant neighbors due to the collapse in their area.
