The international music spectacle is over, the new ESC winner has been chosen. Swede Loreen overtook everyone with “Tattoo”. Listen to the singer’s song here.

Sweden, on the other hand, was happy about a real rain of points. Singer Loreen had already won the ESC eleven years ago in Baku with the hit “Euphoria”. This time, too, she started the race as the favorite to win. The bookmakers saw the 39-year-old with her song “Tattoo” in advance with a 44 percent chance of first place – and they were right.

Expert jury and audience agreed on awarding points

When the points were awarded, it quickly became clear that Sweden would end up at the top. From one country after the other there was the highest rating, Germany’s expert jury also awarded twelve points to Loreen. When it came to the audience rating, which accounts for half of the total number of points, there were no longer any surprises. In the end, Loreen won with 583 points. Watch their performance in Liverpool again here:

A premiere: never before has a woman won the ESC twice. Her comeback to the competition wasn’t actually planned at all. “But then there were somehow louder signs,” the 39-year-old had revealed to the German Press Agency a few days earlier and explained: “I suddenly had this song, and it’s so beautiful, so much happened around that the universe somehow seemed to steer me in that direction.”

She finally decided to perform “because the people around me encouraged me so much,” says Loreen. And these are the people she trusts through and through. “They were all so happy when I told them I was thinking about taking part in the preliminary round in Sweden.” Now they have reason to celebrate.
