AT his office, Tegh Mayor David Ghulunts is torn between disbelief and anger. His city is the last locality in Armenia on the road which leads, via Azerbaijan, to the Armenian enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, blocked since last December 12. Some 200 residents of Tegh – workers transporting goods across the border, construction workers, etc. – are victims of this blockade: for weeks, they can no longer return home. “The Azeris say that they did not block the Lachin corridor, that they are simple demonstrators”, explains the mayor. “The Russians say they can’t do anything. So, who to move? There is an agreement between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia which stipulates that the corridor must remain open. I’m sure if they wanted to, the Russians would fix the problem in one day, but they don’t do anything, and I don’t know why. »
