We knew the Japan Fair Trade Commission had examined the much-discussed case of the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft and, according to what has been reported online in the last few hours, it seems that the Asian regulatory body has given his approval on the matter.

We can’t give the information for certain yet, but according to reports from the Xbox Arabia Twitter account the Microsoft’s takeover attempt has been approved by the Japan Fair Trade Commission. According to what we learn, the Asian antitrust has not found valid reasons to block the deal and there have been no oppositions such as to decide to block the deal.

Although in recent years it has expanded its interests within the Asian market and has managed to place more consoles here with the arrival of the Xbox Series X | S, Microsoft does not represent a market share in Japan comparable to those covered by Sony and Nintendo. Probably, this prompted the Japan Fair Trade Commission to believe that the company from Redmond cannot create a monopoly around itself, net of the acquisition of a giant publisher like Activision and all its associated studios. We stay in any case waiting to receive an official and final confirmation on the decision made by the Japan Fair Trade Commission.

Meanwhile the Federal Trade Commission continues its fight against the takeover, claiming they are not interested in the greater good promised by Microsoft.
