Could the price of Nintendo Switch games increase in 2023? It’s possible, if we are to believe a brief appearance of the Tears of the Kingdom video game on the Canadian eShop. The next Zelda was displayed at $69.99 and then quickly removed from the eShop by the Japanese firm.

Everything increases, video games too. Xbox had announced at the end of 2022 that it would join Sony in charging €79.99 for its biggest games in the future, similar to red fall. In the same way, the PS5 has increased in France since it now costs €50 more. Now it looks like Nintendo wants to follow suit.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, the first Nintendo Switch game sold for €80?

First spotted by Wario64 on Twitter, the Nintendo eShop page of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom very briefly listed the game at $69.99, suggesting that Nintendo is about to raise the prices of its biggest titlesjust like Sony and Microsoft.

The listing of the game and its price was then quickly concealed by Nintendo, in favor of a brief ” release in 2023 but not before many people managed to get their screenshots just in time.

So, simple pricing error, or $10 markup on the game’s Canadian eShop page? Hard to say. For gamers across the Atlantic, a Nintendo game costs $59.99 on Nintendo’s eShop. For us, they are displayed full price at €69.99. Offering it for $69.99 there would be the same as offering it for €79.99 here.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will likely appear during the Nintendo Direct taking place tomorrow, Thursday, February 9. It is therefore possible that the price was revealed a little early by accident before its official reveal. For the moment, the price is set at €64.99 approximately at most pre-order retailers, such as FNAC, Auchan, Amazon, etc. Hopefully that doesn’t change after release.
