15 Places to Watch the Fireworks This 4th of July in Southern California

Fireworks in Southern California are well known for their extravaganza, with music, special preview activities, food trucks and other celebratory details adding to the occasion.

Where will you go on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 to see the glow of the fireworks?

Here are 15 holiday locations that offer fireworks and/or drones on July 4, 2023. Your town might also have events outside, at the high school or the park, so be sure to check your local sources.

Important: Before you leave home, check to see if you need a ticket or pay for parking to participate in your chosen fireworks event. Browsing the event site for great vantage points can also be helpful.

Also, check the start time, although many fireworks begin to light up the night sky around 9:00 p.m., about a half hour after sunset, some events may be on their own peculiar timeline.

4th of July celebrations in Huntington Beach: Ready to patriotically participate in a holiday billed as the “Biggest 4th of July West of the Mississippi”? “Fireworks Over the Ocean” caps off a multi-day celebration that includes the Surf City Run 5K and parade.

Fourth of July at the Starlight Bowl– Enjoy THE RISING (a tribute to Bruce Springsteen) and a “patriotic fireworks display” at the end of the Burbank concert on July 4th.

July 4th at Dana Point: Doheny State Beach will make a great vantage point for this grand-scale spectacle, but do you want to hit the waves? Look out for dinner boat cruises like Dana Wharf Sports fishing and Whale Watching.

Councilman Bob Blumenfield’s 4th of July Show: Admission is free to the party at Parque Warner Ranch, but there is also a ticketed VIP option. There will also be craft vendors and food trucks on site. The place? Woodland Hills, of course.

July 4th at Big Bear Lake: It’s a mountain spectacle, and see the fireworks from a trail or from the shore of the beloved watering hole? That can happen (just read the details before uploading).

Independence Day in the Back Bay: Live tunes, food trucks, and more summer-style convivialities will grace this party, which is near, oh yeah, the Newport Dunes inflatable water park.

Fireworks show: Lancaster’s Antelope Valley Fairgrounds and Events Center is the place for exuberant evening entertainment. A motocross performance and food vendors will also be part of the celebratory scene.

Pacific Palisades Annual 4th of July Celebration: No quibble, the 4th of July is synonymous with the Palisades, where a daytime parade, 5K, 10K, Kids on Bikes, and other delightful activities take place.

4th of July Fireworks at Knott’s Berry Farm: The Buena Park theme park will erupt with “thrilling fanfare” starting at 9:30 pm on July 4th. You’ll need a ticket to visit the theme park, which recently opened the reimagined Fiesta Village.

Hollywood Bowl: The cultural landmark’s July 4th fireworks extravaganza with The Beach Boys will add “Good Vibrations” to not one but three shows on July 2, 3 and 4. Browse the venue’s site for tickets, transportation information, and more.

Let Freedom Ring at Six Flags Magic Mountain: Coca-Cola presents four nights of fireworks at Valencia’s theme park (ticket required to view the show from inside the destination). The fun starts on July 1.

4th of July Fireworks Show in Marina del Rey– Head to Fisherman’s Village or Burton Chace Park to watch the event over the ocean while enjoying a synchronized music performance. There are other places not too far away to see without the tunes, including Venice Pier.

La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club: Looking for a show over the coast with dozens of dazzling drones? Head to the “south end of Kellogg Park” to admire the illumination, which begins at 8:45 p.m. on July 4.
