Next Thursday May 25 Hugo Wolfleader of Dancing Mood, will present his new musical project at Bebop Club (October 1658, Palermo).
Its about Hugo Lobo Quartet, which will experiment with melodies that will transmute between jazz, funk, soul and reggae. In this context we send 5 questions to the musician to delve deeper into this upcoming date.
1. You are presenting a show in quartet format, how did this new project come about?
It was a pending style in my life, which was my engine and my influence to put together Dancing Mood. I had never been able to do it and it’s something I really wanted to do. Play in different and more intimate circuits.
2. What kind of show can the public expect?
People are going to find an entertaining show, including jazz, funk, soul and a bit of reggae. With great classics and own themes.
3. Taking into account your extensive career in music, how do you interpret the present of Argentine music?
I see it as it always was, with its moment of “fashion” and boom, to different styles of music. Other formats, and shorter and successful careers with little underground history. But also many more young musicians and musicians of all styles and very good.
4. What challenges do you currently notice in terms of independent work and self-management on the scene?
Nowadays there are not many challenges due to the easy access to the technology that we have (digital platforms) one can have absolute control and manage their times if that is what they want.
5. What next in your career? Will more dates come?
With the quartet always playing in Buenos Aires and about to start touring in the interior. In July we go to the Altagracia jazz festival in Córdoba. With Dancing Mood we are doing a cycle in Niceto presenting all the discography in order at each show and also touring inside.
