Last spring, Gamer.no was able to report a super team in the making when 777, as Norway’s best team, brought in two of Apeks Rebels’ best players for their Cointer-Strike venture. Ingame leader Preben “Trax” Martinsen and the great talent Steffen “SLY” Amundsen were brought in in the hope that 777 would take the next step to assert itself internationally.

Just before Christmas, the organization made what many thought would be the only trade before the 2023 season when Swede Alex “PALM1” Palm came in for Haris “H4RR3” Hadzic. Now 777 make another player change and bring in former SKADE X player Jesper “Jimbo” Kamsrud for Preben “Trax” Martinsen, who is leaving the team.

Downward curve with flash of light

E-sports manager in 777 Tommy “TommyM” Monsen tells Gamer.no that the organization could not let the opportunity to sign Kamsrud slip away.

Jesper “Jimbo” Kamsrud’s sad end in the SKADE X project may bring a happy period in 777.

Eivind Von Døhlen/Good Game

– We have had a downward curve for a long period, with a couple of flashes of light now and then. But overall, it has not been good enough in terms of how hard we invest financially. When “Jimbo” was available we felt we had to act.

Kamsrud is not unknown in the Norwegian Counter-Strike community but had perhaps his best season last year as Ingame leader for SKADE X. The team not only went undefeated through the series, but took 27 out of 27 points as the only team in the history of the Telialiga. He gets to keep that role in a 777 suit.

– He comes in as Iingame manager and will hopefully give us a big boost. He has a high individual level in addition to good abilities as a leader. He has played in a team for a long time with Steffen “SLY” Amundsen, Mikael “mikki” Gaup and Snorre “fletch” Granerud (coach) in the past. So we know what we’re getting.

777, VOID and Wizard have all benefited from the fact that SKADE X was unable to reach an agreement with its players around the turn of the year. Four of the team’s five members can now be found in other clubs.

Will go far if he continues the grind

About his former player, Monsen can tell of a fine personality who wants to go far.

– Preben has been a lovely person to have in the team during the period he has been with us. Pleasant, professional and mature for the age.
I’m sure he’ll go far if he keeps up the grind!

777 started their Telialiga season with a 2-1 win against newly promoted Center Gaming. In the second series round next Monday, Kamsrud will make his debut against Metizport.
