A pack of cigarettes would be the trigger for an argument in which a young man from 16 years died after being stabbed, in the southwest of Bucaramanga.

This would have been announced by the Metropolitan Police, regretting that his is added to a long list of homicides registered in facts of intolerancein the capital of Santander.

“In the field of Immaculate In the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, unfortunately, a minor under 16 years of age is affected, where minutes before they were sharing with some friends, where a scenario of intolerance appears to be taking place. for some cigarettes. Hence, Colonel Quiroga decided to make a call to the public: “The possible attacker was left at the disposal of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation. Every day, together with the municipal administration, we have been doing campaigns to save lives especially in these spaces where citizens share drinks intoxicating and where we look for there to be tolerance before quarrels that originate with triggers that can be controlled in time”.

Since 2021, intolerance has become one of the most common causes of homicide in the country; and apparently in what goes from 2023 it is not the exception. According to official figures from the National Police, from January 1 to February 7, in Colombia there have been 206 homicides caused by an impulse of anger.

This is more common than is believed, because after an analysis the authorities found that two out of every ten homicides in the national territory respond to facts of intolerance.

In addition, this phenomenon seems to be increasing from one year to the next, since in the same period of the immediately previous year (2022) 182 murders would have been documented; So, from one year to the next, the average increase would be 10%.

Although Bogota, Barranquilla and Cucuta They have been the cities where the most homicides have been reported during 2023, although, it is true that, in the specific case of the country’s capital, cases of intolerance have been reducing year after year.

In 2021, for example, 810 homicides were registered, but in 2022 there were 563. In the case of the capital of Atlántico, there is a 10% reduction. And it is that 79 homicides were reported in 2021, which, for the following year, became 71.

While, in the case of Cali a 20% reduction was recorded. The foregoing is due to the fact that in 2021 there were 247 deaths due to acts of intolerance and the following year 198 were reported; that is, a reduction of 49 homicides in the capital of Valle.

However, when reviewing the data from Medellinthe panorama is completely opposite, with an increase of 7%, going from 125 homicides in 2021 to 133 in 2022.
