ALTON, Tx.- The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash.
The events occurred on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at approximately 9:04 pm on Los Ebanos Rd. South of Mile 4 in the city of Alton in Hidalgo County.
Investigation revealed that an Alton Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a man driving a black Pontiac Grand AM.
The driver failed to yield to police and continued driving past a dead end and into a southbound canal on Los Ebanos Road south of Mile 4.
Later, he fell into the canal after losing control and died instantly on impact.
The driver was identified as 39-year-old Bruce Theodore Garcia of Belton, Tx.
