A 33-year-old criminal who posed as a commissioner to extort money from his victims was arrested by the Buenos Aires Police in the neighboring city of Ensenada. The capture took place after a 31-year-old man denounced the person involved after receiving several telephone calls in which an alleged agent of the La Plata Departmental Directorate of Investigations (DDI) demanded the delivery of 500,000 pesos so as not to be implicated in a case that could land him in jail.

The investigators carried out a long investigation that finally ended last Good Friday: the victim and the defendant agreed to meet at 38 and 127 to deliver the money and once there the troops surprised the extortionist in an ambush.

The suspect arrived at the secret meeting on a motorcycle that had all the adulterated papers and when he asked the man to give him the money, the policemen came to light, identified themselves and reduced him on the spot, although he tried to resist. The man was made available to Justice and now faces charges for “extortion, resisting authority and concealment.”
