The Dead Rising franchise has been a hit with Xbox 360 gamers and is relatively popular with the Xbox community in general. If this is your case, you will be delighted to learn that a new opus is obviously in preparation.

A new Dead Rising is reportedly in development

According to information from Windows Central journalist Jez Corden, a new Dead Rising game is in development, and it would be a reboot. On
Twitter
he indeed replied to a player enjoying the franchise that there was perhaps something in preparation on the side of Capcom:

If you’re a Dead Rising fan, there might be something on the horizon for you too…

(…)

Heard it was a reboot, Capcom has been on a roll lately.

Clarifications, however, that he also confirmed that he had “nothing concrete” on the subject, and that it was only a question of rumors here.

Towards a return to basics?

As a reminder, the latest episode Dead Rising 4, was released in 2016 and met with a mixed reception from players, pushing Capcom to cancel a 5th opus which was already in development at that time; several gameplay videos of the project leaked last year.

If a reboot of the franchise were to see the light of day in the coming years, we hope that it will be based more on the first episodes of the license than on the last.

When we see the success of games like Dying Light 2 Stay Human or more recently Dead Island 2, we say to ourselves that zombies are still popular, and that a return of Dead Rising to the video game landscape would make complete sense.
