On Thursday, a federal judge in Chicago again sentenced the singer to 20 years in prison. He can serve 19 of those years at the same time as the sentence he is already serving. The final year counts as a follow-up penalty.

The rapper was found guilty on 6 out of 13 charges. Only on charges of conspiracy and seduction was he acquitted. Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is “sadistic” and “a serial sex offender” who poses “a serious threat to society,” according to Illinois federal prosecutors.
In the court documents, prosecutors argued that a life sentence for the musician was “the only way to ensure Kelly doesn’t reoffend.”
The judge in Chicago sees THAT the same way and made it clear on Thursday: “No matter what I do, Mr. Kelly will not go out the door in the next 10 or 20 years. We should keep in mind that he is 56 years old and doesn’t have that much life expectancy left.”
The singer is already serving a de facto life sentence.
