A 29-year-old lost control of his vehicle, probably due to excessive speed. He was noticed by the police earlier.

In the early morning of Shrove Monday (February 20), police officers in the area of the Barmer train station noticed an Audi A-6 because it was driving along the Zeughauserstrasse at high speed. The officers immediately took up the pursuit, but initially lost sight of the car.

When officers rediscovered the A-6, the vehicle was on the left-hand side and off the roadway. According to the investigation so far, the 29-year-old driver must have lost control of the car and then crashed into a lamppost.

While the driver was unharmed, the 28-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A blood sample was taken from the 29-year-old driver. The property damage is currently estimated at around 13,000 euros. (red)
