According to a media report, Turbine Potsdam and interim coach Sven Weigang are going their separate ways just a few days before the restart of the women’s Bundesliga. “I’m fine with that, I wanted to help, but it didn’t fit,” said Weigand “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung” (Friday). The club, which is in acute danger of relegation, has not yet confirmed the personnel and, according to the report, referred to ongoing discussions with the coaching team. Weigang only took over the team in mid-November after separating from Sebastian Middeke.

Weigand told the newspaper that the decision was made in a conversation on Wednesday afternoon to end the collaboration, which involved a great deal of effort for him. The 58-year-old works as a teacher. The six-time German champions and former European Cup winners are bottom of the league with just one point from ten games. The distance to a non-relegation zone is nine points. FC Bayern Munich (1 p.m., MagentaSport) is coming to the Karl Liebknecht Stadium on Sunday. (dpa)
