Don Alfredo, reading his column with the recommendations to be able to enjoy a good sleep, I ask him what about yoga, is it good for something or not? It’s about exercise and relaxation, mental and physical, right?

R. Doña Sylvia, you have a good point. Exercise or yoga are some of the most likely behavior changes to improve sleep. Exercising isn’t necessarily top of mind when people are thinking about ways to get better sleep, but it can actually be quite effective. In a survey, nearly a third of people (31%) who added some form of physical activity to their routine (including laying out a mat for some yoga) said it was “very effective” at improving sleep, that it is more than those who tried over-the-counter drugs (25% said it was “very effective” in improving sleep).

Research says that exercise and yoga can also help you feel less anxious in general, and that can be a bonus at bedtime. Recent studies, albeit small, suggest that exercising even first thing at night may actually help improve sleep.

THE SAFEST/JUANJO NN.

Mr. La Mont, in one of your columns you wrote that Iceland was considered the safest country in the world, and I remember that you listed the top ten, but you did not say where Mexico was located or the source you used. Please clarify this information for me.

R. Don Juanjo, with pleasure I share that my source is (translated) the Global Peace Index, Vision of Humanity, and it has Mexico in the 137th place among 163 countries presented.

Expanding on the information, this source says that “there are some points in common between the safest countries in the world. For example, they tend to show high levels of wealth, social well-being, and education. In addition, safe countries often have effective criminal justice systems and governments that have very healthy relationships with their citizens.”

Don Juanjo, you will realize where we insistently fail, which results in Mexico being ranked 137 out of 163. Harsh reality.

HANDLE

Don Alfredo, I look forward to the arrival of fully autonomous cars, will it be that in about 20 years we will no longer drive?

A. It is difficult to predict with certainty what the state of transportation will be in 20 years, but it is likely that people will continue to drive, although the way they drive may change. For example, autonomous vehicles and electric cars are becoming more prevalent and may become more popular in the future. In addition, the use of ride-sharing services and public transportation may also increase.

THE WITH AND THE INCON

How did we first determine that there was a conscious and a subconscious?

A. The concept of the conscious and subconscious mind was first proposed by Sigmund Freud, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as part of his psychoanalytic theory. Freud believed that the conscious mind, which is the part of the mind that we are aware of and can think and reason about, is only a small part of the mind. He proposed that most of our thoughts, memories, and desires are stored in the subconscious mind, which is not directly accessible to our conscious awareness. Freud’s ideas about the conscious and subconscious mind were based on his observations of his patients during psychoanalysis and have been heavily influenced by his own theories and beliefs.
