DFrom Senegal to Japan, from Ethiopia to the United States, from Australia to Panama, passing through Luxembourg, Denmark or Ukraine, there will be several stages for these activities that will take place through the external network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) of Portugal, in 60 countries .

According to a note from the Portuguese MNE, the initiatives will have formats such as colloquiums and lectures, plays, music, cinema, poetry recitals, book launches, conversations with writers, reading aloud, school activities or with children, events cuisine, among many others.

On Friday, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, in partnership with the National Arts Plan, organizes a commemorative event aimed at younger people, with the promotion of the show “A Portuguese and a Brazilian enter a Bar”, starring by the comedians Ricardo Araújo Pereira and Gregório Duvivier, at the Municipal Theater Joaquim Benite, in Almada.

During this event, the young winner of the 4th edition of the World Portuguese Language Day competition will be announced, the result of a partnership between Porto Editora, the National Reading Plan and Camões.

In 2019, the 40th General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) consecrated May 5 as World Portuguese Language Day. Since then, the event has been celebrated and shared by more than 260 million Portuguese speakers on five continents, recognizing the Portuguese language as one of the main languages ​​of communication globally.
