Almost 30 years ago we met the internet for the first time, an invention that changed our lives, the cultural industries and the political-economic system of the whole world.

The internet and, consequently, social networks have become an inseparable element of humanity. In addition, in recent years it has taken on even greater importance due to the pandemic: thanks to Zoom, Facebook and other platforms, companies, families, friends, etc., have been able to maintain communication through the digital sphere.

However, this 2023 could be remembered as a key year for the development of a new technology: artificial intelligencewhich has the potential to become a fundamental part of everyday life (yes, just like the internet).

Artificial intelligence allows, for example, to imagine through illustrations what it would have been like a Star Wars movie directed by David Lynch, write long current affairs articles in the style of Julio Cortázar, and replace anyone’s voice with that of Zane Lowe or some other celebrity.

A few weeks ago we talked about AISIS: The Lost Tapesan album made with the help of artificial intelligence that aims to simulate the style of the band Oasis with everything and the voice of Liam Gallagher (which, if you ask us, sounds extremely natural). The truth is that this case surprised us a lot, but just days later, many other experiments came out that also left us with our mouths open.

A new full length album Travis Scotta mashup of john gabriel con Michael Jackson and a fake collaboration between The Weeknd y Drake are among the tests of Artificial Intelligence that we have heard of late. It is clear that the appearance of these new forms of art have provoked several debates within the music industry, mainly about copyright and the ethics of people who seek to profit from the style and voice of other artists (does anyone hear the word? relax what happened years ago with Napster? Maybe that’s where we go…)
