After the enthusiasm aroused by the announcement of the resumption of imports of new and second-hand vehicles, the Algerians quickly understood that the challenge did not lie only in the availability of cars on the market. Another issue fuels debates and discussions in the press and on social networks: the question of prices.
It must be said that the disclosure of the prices of the models marketed by Fiat Algeria had the effect of a cold shower for many citizens. Because the acquisition cost of the cheapest model, the Fiat 500 Hybrid, started from 2,635,000 DA. As a result, the Italian brand announced, a few weeks later, a downward revision of its prices.

Another “good news” should follow this one. Indeed, the representative in Algeria of the Chinese brand Geely is preparing to begin, in the coming days, the importation of economical vehicles to offer them to Algerians at affordable prices.
Towards lower prices for new cars in Algeria
The Chinese brand, Geely, is preparing its return to the Algerian market.
The Echoroukonline newspaper reveals that the concessionaire has already obtained prior authorization for importation and that it should begin its activity shortly. In addition, the Geely representative is working to set up a distribution network which covers the entire national territory, as stipulated in the specifications.
Geely is an automotive group headquartered in Hangzhou, southeast China. The group, founded in 1986, entered the automotive industry in 1997. It markets its vehicles under the brands: Geely Auto, Lotus, Proton, Lynk & Co, Volvo. In 2021, Geely sold more than 2.2 million cars. It is the 8th largest automotive group in the world.

Thus, with the arrival on the national market of several brands (Fiat, JAC, Geely and, soon, Citroën too), it is expected that the prices of new cars will experience a significant drop in Algeria over the next few weeks. This is, at least, what dictates the law of competition and that of supply and demand.
