After the storm there is no calm, more cold is expected

MIAMI.- The south of Florida is facing a week of low temperatures after a storm hit the region since Friday, causing rainfall, gusts of wind, flooding and power outages in coastal areas.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami reported that a cold front is moving through the state heading towards the Atlantic Ocean, and that the phenomenon will bring with it drier air that will lower the thermometer.

According to the NWS, the maximum temperatures will not exceed 70 degrees and the lows will be between 50 and 60 degrees during the week. The coldest nights will be Monday and Tuesday, with lows between 40 and 50 degrees, according to predictions.

The cold that is predicted will come after residents of counties such as Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach had a weekend spent in water, with flooding and strong winds.

The NWS warned that the risk of rip currents remained high in coastal areas through Sunday night, which could lead to minor flooding and beach erosion.

What to expect in South Florida

The temperature at dawn this Monday was 57 degrees in Miami and a maximum of 72 degrees was expected. In Fort Lauderdale the first hours of the day were in the range of 56 degrees, while in Orlando 52 degrees were recorded.

On Tuesday, the Cold front will drop temperatures into the 50s in some areas of South Florida. Lows will drop to the low 40s from the Treasure Coast to Palm Beach on Tuesday morning, consistent with measurement models.

Forecasters predict there will be little chance of rain throughout the week and into Christmas Eve.
