AMLO assures that this year inflation will drop

Despite the fact that the increase in inflation has impacted the price of food, the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador ruled out that the Federal Government implement new strategies to counteract and even predicted that the indicator will tend to fall this year.

In the morningthe federal president said that inflation in the country has decreased, mainly in energy, due to the fact that a price control strategy has been implemented and although this rebound in food prices has occurred, it has good forecasts for the rest of this 2023.

Although he pointed out that the increase in food prices that has been registered so far in January and that it is higher compared to USA It has been due to “other factors”.

“There are other factors: we have less inflation in energy, because we are intervening directly and we have more possibility of controlling fuel prices that have not increased; however, in what corresponds to food our inflation is higher in relation to the United States (…) Our forecast is that inflation will drop this year”.
