CDMX.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador foresees that the tests of the Mayan Train will begin in July 2023 and the inauguration will be at the end of the same year.

“We are going to inaugurate the work in December, although the trial period will begin in July in a section,” he said in his morning conference from the National Palace.

The President stated that they are still analyzing the first test routes in electrified sections, according to the progress recorded by the work.

“We are seeing if we start in the electrified section, from Edzná, well, from Campeche, which will not be electrified, but from Mérida, Cancún, Chetumal, to see if we can.”

“If not, in July, for the tests, without a doubt Mérida-Cancún and it could be Tulum and Chetumal, but we are already going to be very advanced and by December everything, everything,” he specified.

He said that the first wagons manufactured in Hidalgo will be delivered in mid-2023 and with this the tests will begin.

“The first train wagons will start to be delivered to us in July, little by little, they are what they are doing in Ciudad Sahagún, and we are going to have four or six passenger trains in December, it will be possible to travel all the area,” he added.

He explained that various bus stops, hotels, as well as natural parks are already under construction to deliver in time and form for the promised date.
