Amnesia: The Bunker was originally supposed to be released in March, but Frictional Games decided to postpone it. Now, two months later, Swedish Frictional Games apparently realizes that maybe it wasn’t the best idea to launch the title on May 16.

The studio has sent out a press release revealing that Amnesia: The Bunker has been delayed again, but this time only by a week. The game will now premiere on May 23rd, and the first reason we get for the decision is that the team wants some extra time for fine-tuning. It is a very common explanation. However, the same cannot be said for the second reason. Frictional Games is one of the few studios to admit that the competition made them rethink:

“…carefully timing the release to avoid a week packed with awesome titles from other talented studios. This thoughtful decision means you can fully immerse yourselves in each amazing gaming experience, without feeling overwhelmed.”

It seems to make sense, and in addition to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Lego 2K Drive and a couple of other promising games are coming in mid-May. On the other hand, the new date means that it will face The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and it would also have faced Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (which, however, was delayed late yesterday) – but the competition from these two is therefore not as frightening like Link’s escapades.
