The last session of the year in the local Deliberative Council was also the last for one of the most senior councilors in the local deliberative body, who said goodbye to his colleagues in the last session.
It is the official mayor, Javier More Roig, who will leave his bench to go to the directory of the Water Authority (ADA), the provincial body in charge of regulating and supervising the use of water in Buenos Aires territory.
The mayor is one of the body’s historical figures and was going through his third term, after having been head of the Juntos councilor list in 2021.
In addition, for years he had led the Planning Commission, one of the most important in the body due to the tenor of the files that are studied there and is one of the most knowledgeable in legislative technique. As of January he will be appointed director of the ADA on behalf of the opposition and that is why on Thursday he said goodbye to the rest of the mayors.
Your bench will be occupied by Julia Matheoscurrent administrative secretary of the Council, who is the one who is still on the list of councilors who were elected last year. Matheos is part of the team of the secretary of Victim Assistance and Gender Policies of the Municipality and former president of the Deliberante, Ileana Cid.
“Thank you all for the years shared trying to improve the quality of life of the people of La Plata,” Mor Roig wrote this Friday along with the photo that was taken with all the councilors on Thursday at the end of the extensive session.
In the final stretch of the session, Mor Roig was fired by his peers both from his own block and from the Frente de Todos who applauded him. The president of the Juntos bench, Diego Rovella, wished him luck on behalf of the ruling party. “I want to wish Javier the best for leaving us… the co-religionist, the friend, we hope he does very well in his new management,” he said, while councilor Lucía Barbier also stressed that he is “a great councilor and a great companion”. While from Peronism there were several who pointed out that he “is going to miss him.”
