The release of the final trailer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania surprised fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by presenting the new adventure of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in a totally different light than the previous taste of the first film of Phase Five of the Marvel franchise. A sequence of hyper-dynamic scenes with heavy hues, which also allowed a well-known villain from the comic Marvel Universe to make his debut in the cinematic dimension of the House of Ideas: MODOK Presence that has greatly amazed the True Believers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet if we consider who the villain of the film will be, it is understandable why MODOK appears in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania.

The presence of MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania it’s an intriguing detail

MODOK he was recently the protagonist of an animated series aimed at an adult audience, which showed an ironic side that can make those who are unfamiliar with his paper version think that they are faced with a character that is anything but fearsome.

In the comic field, on the other hand, MODOK. proved to be one of the toughest opponents of Captain Americasince its first appearance in Tales of Suspense #93 (1967), when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby forced Cap, busy rescuing Sharon Carter from AIM captivity, to face the latest insanity of this criminal coven of crazy inventories. In the hope of being able to discover the real powers of the Cosmic Cube, AIM had transformed one of its technicians, George Tarleton, into a sort of man-machine hybrid of superior intelligence, called MODOC (Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing)but when the human part of this entity understood its potential, it changed its programming, aiming to control the AIM itself and renaming itself MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing).

Over the years, MODOK has proved to be a stubborn enemy of several Marvel heroes, such as the Hulk and the X-Men, who he always faced by creating new weapons and showing incredible versatility in hatching ever more complex plans. In all respects, MODOK is considered one of the most fearsome living weapons of the comic Marvel Universe, a nature that has become an excellent reason why MODOK deserves to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania.

We know that in the film the villains Sara Nathaniel Richards in its version Kang the Conqueror, a character who has always been a thorn in the side of several Marvel heroes, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four in particular. In his comic life, Kang has always tried to create armies formed by the most lethal warriors from different corners of the multiverse and from different historical eras, a parterre of soldiers that could benefit from the presence of an entity like MODOK. If in the trailer of the film MODOK appears to be apparently devoid of his human component, this could be an indication that we are faced with one of the possible multiversal variants of the character, as he taught us Loki.

To make the presence of the AIM leader even more intriguing is the fact that the actor who will bring him to life is Corey Stollwho we previously saw as Darren Cross / Bumblebee in the first Ant-Man. The apparently all CGI aspect of MODOK may make this detail irrelevant, it could be interesting to imagine a return of Cross in MODOK version as a weapon against Scott Lang, considered the ending of the first film of the little avenger. Contrary to Ghost, who we know will be part of the Thunderbolts, Hornet (or Yellowyacket as American Marvel fans know him) has not been involved in other Marvel Studios projects, and an appearance in this capacity, as a MODOK variant, could be a nice surprise for our Scott Lang.
