Companies participating in the “compliance program” will be required to file an advance declaration, including carriers. With this, the entry of goods into the country will be faster, including customs procedures. Today, the biggest delay in the import process is when the product arrives from customs for inspection and with this change, people will receive the goods they bought more quickly.
What happened earlier?
In April, the government said it would end the tax exemption for purchases of imported products of up to US$ 50 that are shipped by individuals. The reason for this is because stores within platforms such as Shopee and Aliexpress were using this rule to ship their products. That is, the data placed by the sender (store) was from an individual and not a legal person (company) as it should be.
However, after the above announcement, the decision was withdrawn and it was announced that inspections would be intensified to stop more fraud. Fernando Haddad even spoke last month that certain Chinese e-commerce companies have shown “unfair competition” behavior with Brazilian stores when they circumvent import rules.
