Sadly, on May 18, 2017, we lost one of the most important voices of the ’90s, the great Chris Cornell, who died at the age of 52. Since then, the members of Soundgarden and the widow of Chris Cornell have found everything in a legal battle that after so long, finally came to an end.

It was in December 2019 when Vicky Cornell sued Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherdbecause supposedly they failed to pay a royalty and they were also fighting for Seven Songs Chris Cornell Supposedly Recorded Before He Died and in which his Soundgarden colleagues were seeking credit as co-writers.

Soundgarden and Chris Cornell’s widow finally made peace

As if this were not enough, in February 2021, Chris Cornell’s widow sued the remaining members of Soundgarden again because apparently, they wanted to offer her a smaller amount for her participation in the band’s company, in her husband’s name. That same year, both sides managed to reach a temporary truce over access to the group’s social media accounts.

However, after so many legal fights, Vicky Cornell and the band members finally made peace. Through a statement posted on the band’s social mediathey announced that they finally reconciled and are working together on plans to release the last songs they recorded with the late singer.

“Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell, on behalf of the Chris Cornell estate, are pleased to announce that they have reached an amicable out-of-court resolution. The reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the final songs the band and Chris were working on.”.

It is read in the statement that Soundgarden published to make it clear that they are carrying the party in peace with the widow of Chris Cornell
