LONDON – Tom Parker Bowles, son of Britain’s royal consort Camilla, has defended his mother against allegations that she has always wanted the crown. “I don’t care what anyone says, it’s not what she’s after. She married the person she loves,” Parker Bowles, 48, said in an interview for the News Agents podcast on Thursday.
He didn’t say who he meant by “anyone”. Last but not least, he should have alluded to Prince Harry (38). In his autobiography “Spare” (in German “Reserve”), which was published in January, he had strongly criticized his stepmother Camilla (75).
Among other things, Harry had accused her of giving information about other royals to the press in order to present herself in a better light. He also described her as “dangerous” and accused her of marrying his father King Charles III. and having planned her own coronation as queen well in advance.
The palace recently announced that after the coronation, Camilla would only be referred to as Queen Camilla instead of King’s Consort.
More than three years ago, Harry broke away from the inner circle of the royal family in a dispute and since then has repeatedly spoken in the press about his relationship with the royals.
Harry is expected at the coronation ceremony on May 6th in London. However, his wife Meghan (41) remains in California with their two children Archie (3) and Lilibet (1), where the family now lives. dpa
