Jorge Messi recently met with Barca President Joan Laporta. Among other things, it was about a return from Lionel Messi (35) to FC Barcelona. According to ‘Catalunya Ràdio’, no significant progress has been made, but the first cornerstone has been laid.
Xavi is now building on that. The FC Barcelona manager told a media round that Messi knows “I have often said that Barcelona is his home and that the doors are open. […] The best player in history would always find his place there.”
Xavi himself played in a team with Messi for years. “He is my friend – we are in constant contact, a possible return will only depend on him”says Xavi.
After all, the fact that Messi has not yet accepted PSG’s offer to extend his expiring contract could play into the hands of the Catalans. The current trend is more in the direction of farewell, but Inter Miami is also in the race for the world champion.
