The poet of the goal, a few days after the resumption of the championship, addressed various issues including the future of Juric and the January transfer market
The resumption of the championship is getting closer but in the Toro house there are many issues at stake, not just the return of Serie A, with Ivan’s team Juric which will open 2023 by facing Hellas Verona within the friendly walls of the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Among the topics we hear most insistently are the future of Juric, the renewal of the head of the grenade technical area Davide Vagnati arrived in November and the fact that Primavera plays far from the Piedmontese capital. We talked about this and much more with one of the players who most of all wrote important pages in the history of the granata club and that is Claudio Room, nicknamed “the poet of goals”. A former grenade player who certainly doesn’t need much introduction and who, thanks to the 1976 Scudetto, over 366 appearances, 33 goals and dozens of assists made wearing the Toro shirt, is remembered with great affection by the people grenade.
Sala, at the World Cup Vlasic with his Croatia arrived on the lowest step of the podium. What do you think of this player and how important do you think he is for Toro?
“Vlasic is an important player because championships can only be won with good wingers, I’m talking about tall wingers. Vlasic is one of them. We should have another on the other side, as the teams that have these very good players make the difference in one-on-one situations and therefore clearly there is always positivity from those who are then in the middle of finishing on the net”.
In your opinion, will Taurus have to go looking for an attacker in January?
“There is no doubt about this. I think that Toro has very few forwards and every now and then the false nueve is invented as it happens a little in other teams. But we absolutely need a striker who can score half of the goals Belotti scored. Not all the goals that Belotti scored but half and the other goals should be scored by those who are in charge of playing the midfielder and then go on to conclude”.
What should the grenade company do to convince Juric to stay in Toro for much longer?
“This is difficult to say, these are things that only they know. Juric is a coach that Toro has found and who has done very well. He is a coach who could still continue in the grenade but mainly does not depend on Toro but above all on Juric, as he could perhaps consider the positivity of these negotiations market”.
For far too long, the Granata Spring has been playing away from Turin. How important and meaningful would it be to bring her back to Philadelphia?
“The important thing is not so much to bring the Primavera back to play at Philadelphia. It’s more important to return to investing in young players, which means playing cutting-edge championships and being able to achieve important results as happened a few years ago. I always say that it is the quality of the young players that can lead Toro to do well in the Primavera”.
What do you think of the renewal of Vagnati arrived in mid-November?
“Continuity is very important in football. The continuity not only of a sporting director or a general manager, but also of the players. The renewal of Vagnati’s contract is a starting point to ensure that Toro can do something important with a sporting director who has practically understood the whole grenade mechanism in recent years”.
In your opinion, in which position in the standings will Juric’s team find itself at the end of the championship?
“The important thing is that Toro manages to enter the group of teams fighting to get to Europe, even if it won’t be easy. But with some changes and moves, Taurus could do well”.
