FC Bayern sees itself forced to take drastic and rather unusual measures. As the German record champions officially announced, long-time goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic has been released with immediate effect. The statement suggests that behind the scenes there has recently been a lot of crunching. According to ‘Bild’, the relationship with Julian Nagelsmann in particular is said to have been strained.
“Toni was involved in our team’s successes in recent years as goalkeeping coach. We would like to thank him for that”sports director Hasan Salihamidzic is quoted as saying “In particular, differences about the way we work together have now led to us going our separate ways. We wish Toni Tapalovic all the best for the future.”
Explosive: Tapalovic is considered a close confidante of regular keeper Manuel Neuer (36), with whom he switched from Schalke 04 to Bayern Munich in 2011. Now, in the midst of Neuer’s month-long injury break due to a broken tibia, the 42-year-old will be relieved of his duties.
