Goodbye to BAAL!

The first heart cinema has them Berlinale shown at the very beginning of this year. Away from the big cinema screens.

After he had to wait more than two years, acting legend Mario Adorf (92) used an exclusive dinner in his honor to catch up on his own birthday (celebrated in a small circle because of Corona). “Let’s just pretend today that I’m 90 again…” joked the screen icon (“The Tin Drum”) in the Berlin hotel “Adlon”.

His friends and companions cheered at these beautiful words. Among the 200 guests: movie stars like Iris Berben (72, “Buddenbrooks”), crime scene commissioner Ulrich Tukur (65), David Bennent (56) and rock singer Marius Müller-Westernhagen (74, “Sexy”, with his wife Lindi, 46) .

Among the numerous “late well-wishers” was a very special friend from the past. At the “Adlon” dinner there was a very warm encounter: Mario Adorf (92) greeted his film colleague Karin Baal (82) with a charming kiss. Finally again. The actress arrived in a wheelchair with hip and knee problems.

But her smile: just as magical as decades ago when she saw her Mario again.

Adorf and Baal were a big cinema dream couple of the 50s and 60s: As the sailor “Joe” Adorf fell in love with the striptease dancer “Nina” (Baal) in “Road of Promise” (1962). He to BILD: “After more than ten years, I was very happy to finally see Karin again.”

Baal (married four times) says: “I spent more good time in front of the camera with Mario than with some of my husbands. He’s in such good shape today. On paper, Mario is maybe ten years older than me. But he could pass as my young lover on screen by now!”

That was ready for the FILM

That was an event worthy of a FILM! Also because of the somewhat unusual mixture. Because around 11.30 p.m. the dinner turned into a party – and glamor met the jungle! Because suddenly the reigning jungle queen Djamila Rowe (55) and her companion, the jungle camp sixth place Papis Loveday (46), appeared. Several film stars then left the event, visibly irritated. But Rowe wasn’t impressed.

You to BILD: “For the first time I have been invited to such an event. It was a great honour.” It looks like the glamorous movie stars are having to adjust to Djamila’s presence. Because she’s already invited to the next Berlinale party on Saturday.
